what certain media bodies are doing now, is feeding people with all the negative news about everything whilst disregarding the positive things to induce fear and sadness in the public. they can choose to report the fact that we ranked 9 (or 8?) out of 5x teams during the elimination rounds, with the first few being NASA JPL, MIT (not sure) and what not. they can also choose to report the fact that we have the skills to control the goddamn robot. Yet, they disregard all these, and simply wrote "不過斥資一千五百萬元購入的它仍笨手笨腳" as if they would be able to make it fly if they own it. First, I don't think they know what research means: if you experienced no challenges during your research you're plain lying. All that incident tells you is just that we broke a part, now we're sending it for repair. Yet they choose to say "hku spent so much money to create a joke that is embarrassing us all". Second, I don't think they even know how it works and what caused the failure, therefore being unable to depict it more suitably. Third, out of all the good pictures they get to choose when the robot succeeded to work, they chose the shittiest looking one, with suspected negative intentions. If you're writing news, hand me the facts, I will do the bloody evaluation myself. 作者: sovietarmy2012 時間: 21-10-2013 14:47

1. The 6-foot (1.8 m) robot is designed for a variety of search and rescue tasks, and was unveiled to the public on July 11, 2013.
2. In 2013, DARPA program manager Gill Pratt compared the prototype version of Atlas to a small child, saying that "a 1-year-old child can barely walk, a 1-year-old child falls down a lot ... this is where we are right now."
3. In 2014, Atlas robots programmed by six different teams will compete in the DARPA Robotics Challenge. The contest was inspired by the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, and carries a US$2 million prize for the winning team.
4. Additional funds are being allocated to a newly formed team of Team K and Case Western. That team, now known as HKU, will use an ATLAS robot generously donated to it by Hong Kong University to participate in the DRC Trials in December, 2013. http://engg.hku.hk/home/robotics/hku.htm
Our academics will work with, and against, from the likes of MIT, NASA, Lockheed Martin, University of Kansas and much more, all in all the very pinnacle of robotic science.
So really, what the hell more do we want? We laugh and we snear just because the freaking thing falls? That's how we're supposed to learn for god's sake. http://www.theroboticschallenge.org/Meet.aspx作者: loveless 時間: 21-10-2013 16:19
