在英國, 很多人(包括士兵) 說:
they are GUNS.....

Well, they are not guns.......they are RIFLES!!
Because GUNS look like this...

Remember, GUNS are HUGE!!

I do agree that Rifle mean Rifle. However, Gun not necessary to be HUGE….

In the British Army Infantry, platoons have Gun Group which is GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun) who will be a 2 men team. It also calls Gun as well but not really HUGE! (Just a little bigger then a rifle)

I think there is not necessary to make this as a lesson. The way how British Army calls Rifle or Gun have been carry out for many years. There is not necessary to change it in the CGF at all.

I heard another version

"This is my rifle and this is my gun. The rifle's for fighting and the gun is for fun"

If people in the army said, ' Get me a gun on grip ref.451485......' that will normally mean 105mm light gun from the RA, wouldn't it?

我覺得來福槍在英軍中除了解作用線膛的槍外, 有另一種意義, 是大英帝國輝煌殖民地時代的代表及當時主力的步兵一種可靠的武器.

Gun also mean small arms....as I said GPMG.....General Purpose Machine Gun, not only 105......

"Gun Group, 3 o'clock...FIRE!" it would not be 105 but would be GPMG fire command.
