我以前都相信你這面的資料, 但現在卻認為另一些更可信!
Let get some facts
1. "The war of Hong Kong" was a war between two aggressors or occupiers , there is never a "Good" against "Evil" in this.
2. The defense of Hong Kong was to protect the interest of British Empire,to some extend, it was an act to protect their prize won from the Opium war, and it has very little to do with the local Chinese population in Hong Kong. The tragic consequence to the local was only an un-affordable side story, a copies of all Chinese cities under Japanese occupation.
3. The British troops in Singapore never "stupidly surrender" the city, the Japanese troop in Malaysia Peninsula simply out perform the British, while British troop heavily underestimate the effectiveness of Japanese troops. In fact, westerns historians mostly agreed that British was too arrogant and confident at the time. This can very much apply to the "The war of Hong Kong" as well.
If anyone is interested in the British- Chinese relationship during the war, I strongly suggest pick up background reading on the war in Burma WWII, it will also gives you a good insight into the dirty inter relationship between allies forces.
