What is the difference??

In every Leupold scope sunshade, there is something called "Pre-2004" "2004 and Newer" -http://www.midwayusa.com/esearch.exe/search?TabID=3&category_selector=all_products&search_keywords=leupold+sunshade , and some other in other websites. What does it refers to? what are the difference? Can they fit on th same scope? thanks for help
