What's so strange about getting enrolled into a research programme? so long as one has a valid BA and M.PHil degrees from recognized institutions
It's D.Phil in English, from the Faculty of English, Ox.
My college is Lady Margaret Hall.
Sorry but perhaps it's not so appropriate to disclose the name of my supervisor just at this stage, suffice to say he is (possibly) of Dutch origin, and an Elizabethan scholar.

Oh and...didn't quite get your meaning when you said　"directly"..so..

That's fine mate. I guess there are things between these two schools that are just not so compatible with each other...
I was rejected by Cam. in my application this year as well. It may have sth. to do with their different styles, I guess. At least for my subject (En. Lit.), Cam. leans more towards theory studies while Ox. really focuses on things like manuscripts and historical facts.

Oh not really. I got one from The Chinese Univ. of HK, and worked as a research and teaching assistant in the same school for a year. The reason of my gap year being...simply, I was turned down by both Ox. and Cam. last year~
well there is always plenty of luck involved in this whole business of application..
