It is not really a new breed, just a CS/LS-2 without the silencer, with the original iron sights mounted a bit forward, my personal experience with this subgun is the grip safety sucks, if you wear a gloves, it might get into the gap at the top of the pistol grip and the safety; to be more specific, the web of your hand, and if you shoot it with bare hand, it might bite your flesh. The selector is a bit high but still accessible without loosing your grip, it is an open bolt design, the charging handle does travel back and forward during cycle. Other than that, it is fine
BTW, to your points that the brass will hit your face, no, it won't, the brass' trajectory is o.k.
