I use EP3 plus a set of regular earmuff.

But if you are firing at outdoor range, close the plug on the Sonic defender is sufficient.

Dunno...I always use the EP3 + muff for indoor. Normally just firing pistol indoor anyways. So no cheek rest issue.

All EP series has 24dB NRR. In general it is lower then some good earmuffs, which has NRR up to 30.

So pay attention of what you are buying. If the protection is not sufficient then just don't buy it.

There are some low profile earmuff available as well. Check around.
