The APP predates the world of lasers and red dots and was manufactured for HK by Hensoldt. It is basically a super-bright torch which is zeroed with the weapon. The beam travels over a significant distance (night or day) and lands on the target. A black spot in the middle of the beam indicates the impact point of the round. It was a class leader and well ahead of its time in the 1980's, but has now been superseded by cheaper and smaller laser devices. It is a large device which mounts to the top of a HK Stanag claw mount. It can therefore be attached to any of the HK 9X, 3X and 5X series of weapons - including the MP5. It is reported that these were used by the SAS at Princes Gate. However, as most of the photos are so unclear, it is difficult to verify whether whether they are simply maglite torches or APP's. A very rare item, never before available for civilian purchase. It comes with original wooden box, two spare lamp units, filter, instructions and cleaning kit. Please note that you will require 5 x C cell rechargeable batteries to run the unit (standard C cell batteries give too high a voltage so it must be rechargeables).
