battery options for G&P M4

battery options for G&P M4

My bro got his G&P m4 yesterday, but he's not too happy with the crane stock. Comes out, he doesn't like the crane stock at all, and he wanted to replace a standard m4 stock. But he has not idea where else he can store the battery except the stock, I know many people will use a PEQ laser sight for battery storage, but he isn't much of a fan of PEQ either... he just want to keep his M4 ris nice and clean. Anyone can suggest an alternative for keeping battery?

lithium battery would do the job. but safety and precaution must be taken. unlike ni-mh/ni-cd batteries, li-polymer batteries have stricter rules to follow, otherwise might result in self incinerating, in the worst case scenario.

Where does the lithium battery stores? I'm just curious... isn't lithium batteries are usually used for watches and mobile phones? why are they so dangerous?

where does li battery store?
if you meant what do they store, they have lithium in there
if you meant where are the stores, they're around the place where your bro got his gun (if that's in HK).
RC (remote control) shops sell all kind of batteries, you have to look up for the right voltage and shape for your gun though. they come in different combination of capacity, voltage and shape.
yes they're used in mobile phones and laptops. but the phones and laptops are built in with protecting circuit, which prevents over draining or over heating due to high output.
think what do you have in a gun? a plug   plus, very few people realise the danger beneath when the removed the low-current fuse for efficiency.
short circuit could cause extremely high burst consumption off the battery. that could make a lithium battery dead, and high energy dissipation in the battery could result in incineration, i.e. it burns.  have you not seen Dell and Sony laptop battery burning video on youtube?

thanks for your replies
But what I meant is WHERE THE BATTERIES ARE KEPT IN THE GUN? there got to be somewhere like a stock or battery box to keep those lithium batteries.

p.s. what are other options if he doesn't use lithium battery?

EDIT1: Most people use L119a1, and they (the original issued L119a1) doesn't come with any PEQ lasers or any attachments that allows you to keep batteries. How do airsofters use it at field?

well he can use gas powered rifles, but that involves of buying another gun, and creating a significant amount of green house gas, propanol
batteries can be stored in the tube that fits your buttstock on. that's the most common practice. only very few battery can fit in while the retractable buttstock is still retractable

u have to make a trip to those RC shops and ask for the recommendation, there is only 1 non-lithium battery can fit into the tube AFAIK. AAA size of niMH battery linked up in 2 piece of 2x2 cube, back to back, 8 cells = 1.2* 8 = 9.6v in total. low capacity though.

most PEQ laser boxes u see on airsoft field are battery box dummies. they're wicked, IMHO. u see the bloody hell wire coming out of the back of the box. YUK.
like i said. buttstock tube is a good option. u can use all kind of buttstocks. u DONT have to carry a stupid wicked battery box. it keeps ur gun balanced. it looks neat and tidy since all the wirings are done internally.
i'm not familiar with the brits gear, but as long as it's still M16 series, 119a1, C5 or M733, they're fundamentally the same

I'm sorry for bringing up this dead thread again. I'm really starting to think of using lithium batteries (smaller, lighter and better power...) but I've heard a lot negative feedback for it. Damaging gearbox, white smoke... even burnt up (yeah.. just like you said). Is it really safe for using it? or else it should be banned right?

damaging gearbox are mainly due to the reason that people are stupid enough to chuck a lipo battery in without any modification, gearbox goes busted, then blame for lithium's fault. dude. if ur gearbox is not tuned for 12v, there will be no difference whether u use lithium or nimh. it WILL GO BUSTED.
white smoke.. that i seldom see, but they will bloat under improper use, but normally it wont.
if u really wanna go for lithium, few tips.

1) get a decent charger. if u think ur life worth more than $500 dollars, get a good charger with computer built in. they monitor everything in the battery and prevent over charging. personally recommend iMax B5.
2) do NOT. do NOT. do NOT let it go wayyyyy under voltage. normal voltage is 3.7v per cell. 4.2 when fully charged. never let it go under 3.4 per cell. i bring a little voltage indicator that sticks into balancer and check them time by time.
3) do not use chinese battery. well in fact they're all made in China. i mean, do not use chinese brands. GE powers, 3E, World model, these are fine and economic. if u want higher performance, Thunder Power. cost like shxt, fabulous battery.
4) get your gearbox tuned by experienced gunsmith, or just drop it to gun shops with reputation. do little research on what parts can/should be replaced, and ask for recommendation from gunsmiths. Guns and "chicks" or Den "holy-3-in-1" have very good reputation. they charge a bit pricy, but they worth it.

after all, what's your budget?
