當初USMC用Springfield M45咪好好哋,結果無釐頭搞支Colt M45A1,而家突然又轉番Glock 19 Gen 4。
立場永遠向.45 ACP同9X19兩邊搖擺不定⋯⋯
Springfield M45 was a temporary solution using existing parts (old USGI 1911 frames) combined with off-the-shelf commercial parts (Springfield/Caspian frames, Barsto barrels, King's safeties, etc.). Therefore those pistols were all different from each other to various degrees, which caused a nightmare for the armorers who repaired and maintained the guns.
The adoption of Colt M45A1 standardized the pistols across the board, which is very important for mass use of any weapons, especially modern 1911s that are maintenance-heavy.
The main reason why the Marines, the FBI and other US LE agencies switched back to 9mm luger rounds is the advance of modern 9mm ammunition. With a significant increase in stopping power, plus the benefits of low recoil, high capacity, moderate size (for grip circumference) and lower cost (both training and carrying ammo are cheaper), 9mm luger is clearly the future way to go.
