【明報專訊】全球第二熱門互聯網瀏覽器Firefox，周二推出第3版，聲稱瀏覽網站速度快過最大對手、微軟    InternetExplorer（IE）足足7倍。公司特別搞了一個「齊破健力士世界紀錄
」活動，目標是在Firefox3推出的24小時內，創造最多人下載紀錄，目標是500萬。至昨晚8時為止，全球已有接近160萬人作出下載承諾，當中香港有超過7000人。
聲稱瀏覽網站速度快IE 7倍
Firefox 3的最大賣點是快、方便和安全，在加強處理記憶體效能下，下載網站速度比第2版快3至4倍，比IE快達7倍。其他新功能包括當用家準備瀏覽可疑網站時會自
動發出警告，另外「智能位置欄」容許用家找回早前曾瀏覽過、但未有做書籤的網站。Firefox 3可安裝在視窗2000、XP和Vista，Linux系統也可使用。
Firefox市場推廣部主管金保羅（PaulKim）說，這次將會是環球聯手創造紀錄，如果24小時內能夠達到500萬人下載，那無疑「令人驚歎」。Firefox第2代在06年10月推出的首24小時內，有160萬人下載。
Firefox自04年推出以來，逐步蠶食瀏覽器市場大哥大 IE的市場佔有率。根據市場統計，目前Firefox的佔有率大約是13％至17%，IE則達到八成。對於網民是否熱中更新瀏覽器，專家表示，使用 Firefox者大多對電腦和科技較有認識，亦較傾向使用新版本，因此相信Firefox 3一推出，Firefox用家很快就會轉用。相反，使用IE者，只有35%是使用最新的第7版，另外35%用第6版，其他的就用更舊的版本。

I have installed this Firefox 3 into a Core2Duo 2.2 Ghz system and also a PowerBook G4 OS X and run it for an hours for now. It look all right but I could not feel there is much faster.

I do not have any problem with system hang at all. I would suggest you to scan your computer to see if there is any bug in it. By the way, what kind of system you got? If this is necessary i am willing to help.

I think this is not much difference in PC but  this is faster when running in Mac.
