If the canister is only to use to filter CS gas then it could be use for ever....However, if this is going to use for real Chemical defend then it need to change every few hours.....you also need to learn how to change canister in this situation. If not you will died.

咦......但係有D人話未開仲密封包裝就得十年,夠期就換,開左唔理用過未都係好似半年左右就換

If canister still seal and unused than it would tell you expire day in the seal. However, if the canister is open then it is only use for training for such as CS test. In in real situation the canister would need to change in a very short time depending of the chemical attack.

It would NEVER could attach to any thing a part from the canister.
