The Legends line of products, offered by the German-based Umarex Sportwaffen GmbH, comprises a line of airguns replicating in detail the look and feel of some of the world's most famous firearms, true historical mainstays of the global gun industry.
At the 2015 edition of the IWA OutdoorClassics expo in Nuremberg, Germany, Umarex introduces to the European market one of the last entries in the Legends line, first showcased last January at the SHOT Show. We're talking about the Umarex "Colt Peacemaker" model, an air-powered replica of the .45 Long Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army, one of America's most quintessential firearms.
Powered by a single, commercial CO² canister hosted in the grip, the Umarex "Colt Peacemaker" revolver is 27,3cm/10.¾" long overall, sports a 12,7cm/5" barrel and a black or stainless metal structure, with fake horn grip panels. The cylinder hosts up to 4,5mm/.177, each held in a fake brass case. The cylinder itself loads through a swiveling port, and unloads through a spring-loaded rod, just like the real gun. Sights are fixed.
The Umarex replica of the Colt 1873 Single Action Army revolver is indeed so faithful to the original design that it also duplicates most of its mechanical features: the loading port can be opened only when the hammer is half-cocked, and it is possible to rapid-fire it by keeping the trigger fully depressed and operating the hammer with the palm of the non-trigger hand − a technique known as "Fanning".
